Bake sales are becoming a common sight on the Paterson campus at PCCC, as many student organizations are doing fundraisers post-pandemic. The latest bake sale, hosted by the Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) and the PCCC chapter of the Alliance of EOF Students of New Jersey (AESNJ), was hosted in the early afternoon of October 18, right in the lobby of the Academic Hall.
The bake sale featured a variety of confections, all either made or purchased by EOF students, and the proceeds will go towards student scholarships and towards further event-based fundraisers. As EOF is planning on expanding their services to non-EOF students, fundraisers may become a much more common sight for the organization.
The PCCC Chapter of the Alliance of EOF Students of New Jersey members ran the bake sale. Arlyn Cercado, an alumni member of AESNJ, summarized AESNJ as an organization for EOF students to have a voice and to communicate any changes they want to the program or the school as a whole. She highlighted that students active in AESNJ are eligible for scholarships, and that the organization often has leadership opportunities and that AESNJ can provide invitations to state conferences.
