The Paralyzing Wind – What's Going on with The Weather? By: Dixon Rexach Toro

Have you noticed something about the weather?

It seems like now, more than ever, Mother Nature's breath grows cold as 2024 starts off with heavy flooding along the Passaic River and as frost and snow blankets all of the Passaic County area.

Our little blue planet seems to be changing so drastically and it feels as if nature might actually reflect this change.

The 2020’s so far has no doubt left a footprint on our lives as one of the strangest decades we have been faced with. Whether it’s war, political conflict, disease, Unidentified Aerial Phenomenon (UAP), or dark secrets being exposed to the light, 2024 has already seemed to be at the pinnacle of this era.

What really got to me was hearing David Grush, a former air force officer now whistleblower, deciding to speak out about the possibility of extraterrestrials existing and the government knowing about them. I remember being both in shock and ecstatic when I saw the live stream of the congress hearing on YouTube.

What if aliens actually exist? What if they’re already here? I’m still amazed by thinking such a thought, their thoughts or state of consciousness they would be in.

You know, it wasn’t always like this. Not before 2020, when it all happened.

I remember way back when, when there were days when we were completely absorbed into cherished moments in our lives rather than have them simply pass by. On snowy days, you would just stay in, watch a movie with your family, or play out in the snow. The only aliens I would see is E.T., the alien machines that came out from the ground from War of the Worlds (2005), the creepy insectoids from The Mist (2007), and the pedestrians I see from the kitchen window as they walk with heavily-wrapped winter clothing, penguin-walking on top of 4 feet of snow.

Now, it feels like everyone I see is an alien now on a strange and fierce-looking planet filled with cold, ravaging inhabitants.

The weather now seems devoid of this long-gone magic, as the wintertime seems to deviate from the laws of nature – when it says it’s going to snow, it’ll rain instead. When it says there will be sunny skies, there is a blizzard outside, like it has a mind of its own.

This all makes too much sense considering the devastating effects of climate change due to too much human involvement. According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration , the Hemispheric surface temperature had an increase of almost 3 degrees Fahrenheit above average. The average is 1.6 degrees.

Life as we know it has evolved into a new form – a form that has changed in almost every way from the way we go throughout our day to weather anomalies.

Has our brilliant little blue marble turned rather cold and pale? Has Mother Gaia changed her ways to the point where she has turned cold towards humans? Has life overall actually changed for the worse?

I miss those days being cuddled into my blanket and spending time with cherished ones.

Even though such beauties have fallen, it is time for us to embrace the unknown we are inevitably pushing ourselves towards to and to march into the storm of all the pain that we may suffer from.

Perhaps there might good days ahead of us, after all.
